A few weeks ago I announced that I had another review up and coming from CSN stores. I absolutely love CSN.......they have wonderful customer service, a HUGE variety of products (they have over 200 stores to choose from), and have very quick shipping. It took me quite a while to decide what I wanted to review because they have so many items to choose from. We finally decided on a putting the gift card for the review towards a toddler bed for Monkey. The bed that we ended up getting is the DaVinci Sleigh Toddler Bed in Espresso.
The first thing that I noticed when I opened the bed is how well it is packed. Everything was either wrapped in bubble wrap, cardboard, or in a box protected from all of the bumps it goes through getting to your door step. The big box that everything was inside of even had hard corner inserts in every corner to make sure that the box and/or its contents didn't get crushed. Take a look at how well the bed pieces were packed in the box.
We have been considering transitioning Monkey to a toddler bed for a while. With a baby on the way his bed is going to be absconded for the little one so we needed to start transitioning him now before the baby comes. I really don't want to have to worry about getting a baby to sleep and transitioning him to a toddler bed at the same time. I am so glad that we ended up deciding on this bed because it matches the crib that we have almost perfectly and Monkey LOVES his new "nigh nigh bed."
For the most part it was very easy to put together. We had a little bit of trouble getting the slats that go under the mattress to all go in the holes at the same time. When we got all of the slats on one side in the ones on the other side would pop out again. Finally we got all of the slats put together and screwed in tight and it was a breeze to put together after that. I think that it took a total of about 20-30 minutes to put the bed together.I LOVE the look of the bed. It is very sleek and nice looking and is nice and sturdy. Plenty sturdy enough to withstand the wear and tear that a toddler will put it up against. I am not really sure if you are technically supposed to, but last night when I put Monkey to bed we both laid in the bed until he was asleep (there's not much you can do when a kiddo that is learning to sleep in a toddler bed wants you to snuggle for a bit until they fall asleep. When I laid down I didn't hear any squeaking or popping from the bed and it felt very sturdy.
The directions were very easily understandable and it had pictures/directions for every step that you needed to do. The whole time that we were putting the bed together Monkey was itching to jump on top of everything we were doing and get on his new bed. When we were finally done and got his new mattress (keep an eye out for a review/giveaway soon for the Naturepedic-No-Compromise Organic Cotton Ultra crib mattress) on his bed and he was able to get up on it he literally squealed with delight about his new "nigh nigh" bed.
Every time that Monkey looks in his room he has to tell you all about his "Nigh Nigh Bed." He thinks that it is the coolest thing ever! It is going to take a while to get him fully transitioned into the toddler bed, but we are working on it. So far he has slept one night fully in it without waking up (we are working on making that 2 nights right now....he is sound asleep and happy in his bed) and the rest of them he has woken up (mainly because he dropped his treasured puppy dog off of the side of the bed). Every night we put him in the bed he gets a little more comfortable with the bed and sleeps a little better. I'm a little scared to try out the bed at nap time because I'm worried that since it wont be dark outside he will want to get out of bed and play the whole time. We'll see how that goes.....were taking it one step at a time.
Does anybody have any advice on transitioning to a toddler bed at nap time.....how do you get your kid to actually sleep and not play the whole time??
