Bath time is Baby D's favorite time of the day.....well besides eating of course. Even if he is screaming and crying for no apparent reason if I put him in the bath he calms right down. It is like the ultimate relaxation for him. After I get him out of the bath he is a little ball of jelly and as soon as i get him dressed and swaddled he falls right to sleep.
The baby bath that we had before was one of the ones that has the mesh hammock thing that hung over the tub that you lay the baby in. It works well enough, but the people that designed it weren't thinking to hard about their design. The problem was that for some reason it had a bar that went right behind his back that was very uncomfortable for him. Even though he was laying in the hammock he still layed right on that bar. When I heard that I was going to get to do review of 4Moms Cleanwater infant tub I was so excited! It is the most brilliant design for a infant bath tub that I have ever heard of!
When bathing an infant the temperature needs to be very closely monitored so that they are comfortable and stay comfortable the whole time. If you have the water running while they are in the tub the temperature is constantly changing and can quickly change to where they are too hot/cold. The Cleanwater Infant Tub has a built in thermometer that is constantly monitoring the temperature for you so that you can focus on your baby and not the water.
"Babies have sensitive skin, so they hate bathing in cold
water more than you do. And water that’s too hot is no good, either.
Our tub’s built-in digital thermometer makes it easy to set
a perfect temperature every time."
The screen has three different temperature levels. When you first turn it on the screen will be blue showing that the water is too cold. The screen will stay blue until the water gets heated up to a comfortable/safe temperature.
When the water is warmed up and at a safe and comfortable temperature the screen will turn green letting you know that the water is safe to put your baby in. You just have to make sure that temperature stays in the middle comfort zone so that your little one doesn't get too cold/hot.
When the temperature gets too hot the screen will turn to red letting you know that the water is too hot. If the temperature keeps getting hotter the red light will start flashing and and it will beep until the temperature is lowered to a safe level.
The tub even comes with a cup to use to rinse your little one off so that you don't have to search around for something to use. There is also a place to put the cup so that you always have it handy.
Before the water even reaches your baby it pours into a small collecting area that the thermometer is in. Once that area fills up with clean water that is the right temperature it will pour over the edge of that area and into where your baby is so that the water your baby is laying in is always at the right temperature.
Now for the "clean water" part of the tub! You know when you are using a normal infant tub all of the water that is clean when you put your baby in suddenly get dirty when you wash them......with the Clean Water Infant Tub it has clean water constantly flowing into the tub. It then flows around your baby and out the drainage hole in the side of the tub so that your baby is always in clean water.
"Most infant tubs hold a small amount of water that gets dirty and cold during bathing. After months of research and dozens of focus groups we came up with an extremely complex solution. Why not poke a hole in the side of the tub so dirty water can drain out while clean fresh water flows in?"
"Cleaner water. Cleaner baby. Perfect."
