***Baby Blessings-Thirsties Duo Diaper Review & GIVEAWAY***

I just love the Thirsties Duo Diaper!  It fits my skinny little man so well and doesn't leak at all. It combines the ease and convenience of a pocket diaper with the leak proof protection of the Thirsties Fab Fitted and Duo Wrap.   Thirsties was awesome enough to send us a Duo Diaper in size 1 to try on our 2 month old babe. He is currently about 9lbs with skinny little legs, so many other diapers don't fit him yet.

OUR REVIEW:

Pocket Opening:

The diaper has a sleeve pocket design that makes for easy stuffing & easy cleaning. There is basically an opening on both sides of the diaper so that you can easily get the insert into (and out of) the diaper. I was a little worried about the front gaping since the lining didn't come to the front but we havnt had any trouble with it at all. You just have to make sure that the insert doesn't accidentally stick out of the diaper when you put it on.

Inserts:

The inserts are made out of a microfiber terry & hemp combination. This combination makes for the best possible absorption with no leaks.  I can't even begin to describe how absorbent this diaper is! With this combo we haven't had any leaks at all in all of the times that we have used it......and lets just say that Baby D has put it through a lot!! The two inserts snap together so that you don't have to worry about them slipping and not being doubled up.  

Microfiber is a very fast absorbing fabric that is designed to rest against your baby's skin (beneath the microfleece sleeve) and quickly absorb liquid so that there are lo leaks. Hemp is a stable absorber and pairs perfectly behind the microfiber terry to add more absorbency and to prevent compression leaking. I LOVE hemp because it absorbs so well! It is amazing just how much liquid a hemp insert will soak up compared to others.

Fit/Rise:

The one thing that I don't like about using one-size pocket diapers with a newborn is the bulk that most of them have. Some of the diapers that I have put on Baby D make is so that his bum is probably triple the size as normal. The Duo diaper is a little bit bigger than sposies on him but not much. It fits so well and is nice and trim.

The Duo Diaper features three rows of snaps so that you can easily adjust the rise on the diaper to your baby's shape and size. It is like having a "sized" diaper but with adjustments so that you can use it for longer and have it fit perfect. THREE sizes in one! With the diaper being offered in two sizes, the huge adjustability in the rise on the front of the diaper, and their signature leg gussets you have one of the most versatile diaper on the market.  The basic shape of the Duo Diaper is the same as the Duo Wraps. It also has the same signature Thirsties velcro tabs that allow crossover for a snugger, more custom fit around the tummy.

Snaps or Velcro:  

You can get all of their diapers with hook & loop closures. The Velcro is high quality and meant too last a long time. It has held up well through many washings and still holds the diaper on well.

Colors:

I do have to say that Thirsties diapers come in some of the cutest colors and prints! We were sent the "cool stripes" diaper and it is so bold and fun! I have a lot of trouble finding cute diapers that are in boys colors and Thirsties has some super cute boy dipes. They have 12 different options available and colors that are good for girl, boy, or gender neutral.

Features:

Another thing that I absolutely love about this diaper is that you don't have to un-stuff the diaper before washing! It makes for very easy cleaning and so you don't have to mess with icky diapers. There is no need to remove the soiled inserts when you throw the diaper into your diaper pail and your hands will remain clean! Simply toss your soiled  diaper in the wash and the inserts will agitate free from the diaper in the washing machine. How cool is that!!!

Price:

The Duo Diaper costs $18.50 for solid colors and $19.50 for prints which is about average in the cloth diaper world for pocket diapers. This is definitely not your average diaper though!  It  comes with a microfiber and a hemp insert so you can customize absorbency as needed.....most other diapers that you buy you will have to pay extra to get hemp inserts to go with it.
