***Bum Essentials Bumbino Diaper Review and GIVEAWAY***

 About The Company
I recently had the honor of working with a wonderful company called Bum Essentials. They carry cloth diapers, wet bags, and diaper pail liners. I love finding new brands of diapers and seeing which ones I like the most. With a baby on the way I am super excited to try and find our "favorite" diaper since we will be using cloth diapers a lot more with two kids in diapers.
I had my sister-in-law test out this diaper because my chunky monkey almost 2 year old was too big for it. She tested it out on her 8 month old daughter. Here is what she had to say.

Our Review

I was able to test out this diaper for my sister-in-law’s review. She got a cute yellow one, the perfect shade of yellow, I thought, very cheery. I was so excited to try it I just put it on my eight-month-old daughter for bedtime before I had even prepped it... Probably not the best idea, as she is a very heavy nighttime wetter (still eats about 6-8 ounces a feeding, and 2-3 feedings at night, and I just leave her in the same diaper… bad, I know). We did have some major leaks, but I figured it was just due to not having it prepped. Once I got the diaper prepped, I tried to test it again for nighttime. . . this time she did her own test on it by doing a number-two just as I was putting her down. So that scratched the night test again, but it held in her poo just fine!
I decided to try out one of the features I thought was cool about this diaper – the fact that you can reuse the cover! Being a strictly pocket-diapering mommy, I thought this was pretty neat. Because the inserts (called Bum Pads) just snap in, the small over larger one, you can snap them right out again and put new ones in one change, making it save on laundry and money! You can do this until the cover is soiled (or just too stinky from all the pee). I actually did this after she had pooed, because I caught it fast enough it did not get on the cover at all. I did not have extra bum pads, so I just used some inserts from my personal pocket diaper stash. They worked just fine, and stayed in place even without being snapped in. I like it when things are versatile enough to allow for other products to work with them too! And the outer shell is fully lined with very comfy, soft micro fleece, so only softness touches baby.
One thing I was not sure about having the inserts just set on top was that they get all bunched up, and it seemed like it would have leaking problems and be uncomfortable for the baby. But we never had any leaks after it was prepped, and when I compared it to my pocket diapers, they bunched too, it was just that you could not see it because of the pocket, so I figured the comfort level would be about the same. Also, with them being snapped in the front, I couldn’t figure out how to fold them into thirds like my pocket inserts do to get more absorbency in the front. But I tried just folding the big one in half, and putting the little one over the whole thing and it worked just fine, with no leaks in our nighttime test! I just had to step out of my pocket-diaper brain and try new things!
I think my favorite feature of this diaper is, well, two things: One is the elastic on the front as well as the back. My daughter always has this gap in the front with her other diapers, and they sometimes fold under and the Velcro scratches her. Not this diaper! First, the Velcro is like a tab (with the cute logo on it) that is covered in the same soft material as the diaper, and just goes over left to right, making a snug fit for even small babies. The elastic fits so snugly for no leaks in front or back, and there were never red marks anywhere. The second thing is how very trim it is, even with both Bum Pads in! They are so thin yet very absorbent, and it makes for a great, trim fit! I think it is the trimmest diaper I have ever tried!
The only drawback I found after I worked out all my personal kinks is that the “One size” feature is a little on the smaller side, and it only has two snaps instead of at least three, making a little sag in the middle (which I think if they had three, it would make it even smaller without that bit of sag to give). The reason I got to review it was that my sister-in-law’s 22-month old son is already too big for it. And even my 18lb. daughter was using the biggest setting, though still with room to grow, but it might not take you all the way through potty training if you have bigger-sized kids. But plenty of other reviews say it fits their two-plus year old just fine.

Sizing: Fits babies from 8-34 lbs. I found that they fit a little smaller than 34 lbs because my 22 month old son doesn't fit in the diaper and he weighs a little over 30 lbs. It could just be his body type through. If you have a skinnier kid I'm sure that it would work just fine.

Snaps or Velcro: Diapers are available with Velcro closures

Colors: Available in red, blue, green, and yellow.

Price: Sells for $19.99 and includes a diaper shell and 1 set of the "Terry Towel" Bum pads.

After visiting their blog, I really enjoyed the helpful hints for laundering the diapers, such as making sure the velcro is closed, and snaps are undone. I have only used prefolds and was curious how to go about diapers like these.
