***BABY BLESSINGS-Baby Genius DVD & Books Review & GIVEAWAY***

Monkey absolutely LOVES reading and singing songs! When he goes down for a nap or when he goes to bed for the night we always have to read books and sing songs. It is our nightly ritual that he never forgets about. Even Baby D loves it when we read books to him. He is not old enough to know that we are reading him a book but he can tell that it is different than just plain old talking to him. Every time that we read him a story he looks straight at you and starts smiling and giggling.

I was so excited when I heard from Baby Genius about doing a review for them.  Baby Genius is a company that is committed to providing music-based products that are entertaining, educational and beneficial to the well-being of babies and young children.  They carry everything from books to CD's, DVD's, toys, and more. Baby Genius was generous enough to send us a DVD (Underwater Adventures) and 4 books (5 Little Monkeys Jumpin' on the Bed, Old McDonald Had a Farm, The Wheels on the Bus, and 1 Little, 2 Little, 3 Little Elephants) all for review. As soon as we received them they were all Monkey wanted to read and watch. Every day at naptime we had to read/sing all of the books. They are some of his favorite books now.

 The 5 Little Monkeys book is a fun way to teach counting and subtraction through singing. It is the story of Oboe the Monkey and his brothers and sisters. It goes through each Monkey jumping on the bed and how they one by one fall off and bonk their head. Monkey loves counting down with this one and at the end of the book all of the monkeys are sleeping in their bed. He tells me every time "shhhhh......Monkeys seeping bed."

This book focuses on counting. It goes through a ballet recital and each page includes pictures of one little, two little, three little...up to ten little dancing elephants. Down at the bottom of each page there is a question that you can ask your little one. There are ones like "how many elephants are on their toes" or "how many elephants are bowing." It is a great way for your little one to learn how to count!

Out of all of these books I think that Old McDonald is one of Monkeys favorites. He absolutely loves animals and telling me what each one is. This book is a great way to learn about farm animals and what noises they make. It teaches about life on the farm with Old MacDonald who is Vinko the Dancing Bear.  It will help you teach your kiddos about being a farmer and all that they do. It shows Vinko milking the cows, shearing the sheep, washing the pigs, feeding the hens, and collecting eggs. They will love learning about all of the animals and finding out what sounds they make.

The Wheels on the Bus is another of Monkeys favorite books. Even before we got these books every time that he would see a school bus drive by he would scream "BIG SCHOOL BUS!!." So needless to say he loves this book! It has a bunch of Baby Genius characters in it and tells all about Oboe, Rosie, Frankie, DJ, Tempo and Vinko and their ride to school.  Each character shows your child how "the wheels go round and round" or how the horn goes "beep beep beep." Each page shows you motions that you are supposed to do that goes along with what you are reading. This book is a great one to get you and your kiddos singing and moving with all of the Baby Genius characters!

Underwater Adventures is a great movie for when you are wanting something calm and quiet. The movie is basically videos of fish swimming/ocean life  in the ocean and all kinds of things at an aquarium. Monkey absolutely LOVES this movie! It is very simple yet entertaining. The whole thing has music playing along in the background. Some of Monkeys favorite things in the movie are the Turtles, Schooling Fish, and the Sea Horses. There are many other things that your kids will learn about. Almost every time I let him watch a movie he will ask for "Fishies Movie." He LOVES it!
